September Newsletter

Welcome back to school!!  We are so excited to have your children with us again this year and we are even more excited about the new things that we have put in place for this school year!  Please do not be overwhelmed by the amount of paperwork that we are sending home today and during this week.  It is all necessary for the safety and education of your child.

First of all you may have noticed we have a new school webpage.  Please use this to find out anything you need to know about the school first.  There are links to the lunch menu, the student handbook, teacher pages and much more!  It was just created in July so there may be a few items that have not been moved over yet, so please be patient.  I highly recommend that everyone take the time to read the student handbook.  The web address is  Please note that all of the teachers have new email addresses as well.  You can access them all on teacherease as before

We also added a brand new morning announcement system.  This year our students in the upper grades will be able to do the announcements live over the school tvs from the green screen room.  We are so excited about this new program and I (personally) can’t wait for them to do the announcements instead of me!!  It will be a great introduction to the world of broadcasting!

Our school is now a Google Education School.  What does that mean?  It means we now have access to all of the Google Education apps and programs.  All students in grades 3-6 will now have their own gmail account (for school use only, and with your permission) to interact with each other and do school assignments.  Students will not need usb drives because all of their work can be stored on Google Drive. This allows them to access their school work from anywhere.  Teachers can post assignments and group activities online for all to work on as a group from any location. Please read all the internet forms before you sign them.

Another addition to our school is our Maker Space room. “ A makerspace is a place where students can gather to create, invent, tinker, explore and discover using a variety of tools and materials.” – Renovated Learning.   We are very excited about piloting this room this year.  Students will visit the Maker Space on Wednesdays with their classroom teachers.  We will be asking for a variety of materials for student creating throughout the year, so please watch.  Materials will just be things you may have in your home or can collect such as tp tubes, containers or craft supplies.

Our last big program that we are rolling out this year is our “Perfect Attendance Challenge”.  Students who receive perfect attendance during a grading period will be entered into a drawing for a $25 gift card from Scrip.  Students with perfect attendance whose names are not drawn will get a gift from the prize box.  Students who receive perfect attendance the entire year will be entered in a drawing for a $50 gift card. Those with perfect attendance for the year who do not receive the grand prize will get a gift card for ice cream from Joe’s Drive In.  Only students with NO UNEXCUSED TARDIES can be put in the drawings.

I think that might be enough information for today.  If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to ask.  There is a lot of information to absorb this year and some really exciting new experiences for our students!  It is going to be an exciting new year!!!
